The Town of Henderson is seeking applicants for the position of Town Tax Assessor. This is a part time position with varying hours depending on workload and state mandated assessor activities and deadlines.

Responsibilities include: annually valuing all parcels of real property town wide; all assessment related clerical duties; entering data in RPS systems, along with all property exemptions such as STAR exemptions; updating all assessment records; completing all reports required by the County Real Property Tax office, Candidates should have good knowledge of principles, practices and laws pertaining to Real Property valuation and assessment; candidates must be able to prepare and participate at all public hearings of the Board of Assessment Review. Establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with the public is essential. Good computer skills are essential as well. Applicants not already certified must obtain NYS Certification within one year of accepting the position. Mandated continuing education/training also required. Minimum educational level of High School or High School Equivalency {GED or TASC) diploma required. Associates Degree or higher preferred.
